At Burgess Surveying we provide professional land surveying services for commercial, residential and public works projects throughout the state of Michigan. Our extensive experience includes projects both large and small.
The ALTA Survey is a detailed land parcel map, showing all existing improvements of the property, utilities, and significant observations within the insured estate. The survey also details the licensed surveyor’s findings concerning the property boundaries and how they relate to the title.
The boundary survey is used to mark the location of property corners with stakes, with or without a house, buildings or improvements located, sketch drawn. If easements need to be shown, a copy of current title work with copies of the easements must be provided to the surveyor.
Surveying a new tower site or for co-locating on an existing tower, prepare site plan, legal descriptions, C-2 certifications, and other items as requested by the client. Geodetic coordinates and elevations are also measured.
Small road and residential, commercial site stakeout for developers & contractors.
Taking elevations at the property, preparing a drawing, site plan, etc., as client requests.
Determine elevations at site in relation to a government benchmark, will receive a map of survey and FEMA elevation certificate. LOMA forms may be completed in some cases.
Locating the concrete walls after they are poured to obtain backfill permits for the builder/township/city – not needed everywhere – depends on local municipality, sketch drawn.
Establishing control points on the ground in conjunction with aerial mapping firms to produce topographical maps on larger sites.
Splitting a larger parcel into smaller parcels. Staking the boundaries of the split parcel(s) and the parent parcel if required. Creating a drawing and legal descriptions for the land divisions. If easements need to be shown, a copy of current title work with copies of the easements must be provided to the surveyor.
Writing new descriptions for parcels/easements as requested by the client. May include a new sketch for description purposes only (optional). Some fieldwork may be needed to generate these.
Approximate location of house and buildings, showing visible improvements with NO stakes on property corners and sketch drawn. If easements need to be shown, a copy of current title work with copies of the easements must be provided to the surveyor. Usually needed for the purposes of obtaining a mortgage.
Converting a parcel of land into a Site Condominium development, Setting monuments at the outer boundary of the Condo, setting irons at the parcel corners and preparing supporting documents for recording at the county.
A drawing showing a proposed house/building for township/city review. Drawing created per client’s and governing agency’s specifications. Fieldwork may be required.
Stakeout of proposed house/building on property per client, sketch drawn.
Converting a parcel of land through the development process into a Subdivision, Plat, or Condo. setting monuments at the outer boundary of the Subdivision/Plat, setting irons at the parcel corners and preparing supporting documents for recording at the state/county.
Involves taking elevations over the property, location of improvements and utilities as listed by the client, sketch drawn with contours.
Advanced Excavating, Inc. has used Burgess Surveying for all of our site staking and survey since October 2009. Burgess Surveying has given us great services, on time, and at a very reasonable cost.
Advanced Excavating, Inc. has not solicited other surveying contractors for any of our needs. We have used Burgess Surveying for all layouts including curb and gutter, storm sewer, watermain, sanitary sewer, parking lots, and clearing limits. They have also assisted us in control points and CAD file grooming for GPS grade control for our projects. A few of the projects we have worked with Burgess Surveying on include: Liberty Dialysis Center; Byron Center Brown Elementary School; Jenison High School Fine Arts Center; City of Lansing Transportation Center; and Grand Rapids Public School University Prep Academy.
